THE POWER OF THE WORD

"For the Word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God. Everything is naked and exposed before His eyes, and He is the One to Whom we are all accountable."--Hebrews 4:12-13.
The Bible says that God spoke all things into existence.
How awesome it is, to imagine something and speak it into existence. It shows the power of the Great Creator, the Purity and Holiness of His thoughts and plans. Not to think of the authority to execute the plan and maintain it generation after generation in humility, without misuse or abuse.
A philosopher once said that 'Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely.' We must keep in mind that we are at the mercy and compassion of the Almighty Creator, not the other way round. We are in need of redemption, having been corrupted by pride and greed.
#History Lessons
The Book of Genesis records the corruption that took place and led to the destruction of the first world in Noah's time. What made God destroy that generation was the increase in violence. Humans practiced what was unacceptable to God. And the wickedness and destruction He witnessed, broke His heart.
The violence was the result of the activities of the fallen angels or demons, as recorded in Genesis chapter 6. Something we are witnessing in our generation.
But God chose one man to warn the world of the consequences of their action, and His intention to destroy everything.
Noah the prophetic voice of his generation called people to repentance. But he was mocked.
Destruction was in the form of flood that covered the whole earth. But Noah and his family and some animals were saved in the boat Noah was instructed to build.
After forty days, God stopped the rain and the water receded.
God gave a sign of His covenant with all living things, saying, "I have placed My rainbow in the clouds...When I send clouds over the earth, the rainbow will appear...and I will remember My covenant...Never again will floodwaters destroy all life."--Genesis 9:12-17.
Noah's Boat was a place of safety for all life that sheltered during the forty-day rain.
A reminder that Christ is our Shelter. All who take refuge in Him will be kept safe whatever trial or tribulation the world suffers in the Last Days.
#Good and Perfect Plan
Sin corrupts and perverts the soul. The Bible warns that God hates sin. It was the reason messages of warning were sent through the prophets in the Old Testament, that people should repent of their sins. He made provision through animal sacrifices and later by giving His Son on the Cross of Calvary for the sins of the world.
Because animal sacrifices could not make people holy--only the Blood of the Holy One Who became Man has the power to Redeem.
Jeremiah was given a message to the people of Israel and Judah, to warn them before the destruction of Jerusalem by the Babylonians--Jeremiah 26:1-9. But the people rejected the warning time after time.
Many were killed, those who survived were taken captive to Babylon. God warned against fleeing to Egypt. Jeremiah 29:4-23, gives the plan.
#Salvation in Christ
As the world faces treacherous times, we must be reminded that our hope is in Christ alone. Those seeking another god believing they would be protected are acting like the Israelites who sought refuge in Egypt. But in the end a worse calamity was their fate.
Help comes when we are obedient to God's Word.
#Judgment of the Last Days
Jesus appeared to John while in exile in the Book of Revelation, and gave messages for the Church and the people of the world. He told John, "I Am the Alpha, and the Omega--the Beginning and the End...I Am the One who is, who always was, and who is still to come--the Almighty One."--Revelation 1:8. If we read the message to the churches, we would learn the source of the darkness engulfing the world. But we must remember not to pick and choose which to believe.
#Shelter and Refuge
In Noah's time, those who sought safety, took refuge in the boat. In Jeremiah's time God called for obedience. All who obeyed the command to go to Babylon had their fate decided by God.
The same it will be for us as we come to the end of the Age as recorded in Revelation 13. Accepting Satan's plan to worship idols will never provide safety--remember Daniel and his friends.
Jesus says, "Anyone with ears to hear should listen and understand. Anyone who is destined for prison will be taken to prison. Anyone destined to die by the sword will die by the sword. This means that God's holy people must endure persecution patiently and remain faithful."--Revelation 13:1-10.
The Dragon, the persecutor of Christ's followers, is the ten-headed beast operating in different forms to deceive and confuse the world. He hides under various identities, religions and nations. [Ephesians 6:10-18 warns].
#Victory is the LORD'S
And remember that whatever happens, whether we live or die, Christ will receive those who believe in Him home to Heaven.
God's Judgment will purge the world of all the evil and wickedness.
Revelation 21:1, tells of the New Heaven and the New Earth--the New Jerusalem.
Psalm 69:32b-33, says, "Let all who seek God's help be encouraged. For the LORD hears the cries of the needy; He does not despise His imprisoned people."
God also says in Psalm 91:14-16; "I will rescue those who love Me. I will protect those who trust in My name. When they call on Me, I will answer; I will be with them in trouble. I will rescue and honour them. I will reward them with a long life and give them My Salvation."
