FASHION: Dressing--A Matter of Habit

We all desire the ability to dress well and be complimented. But it doesn't come easy for most of us. As a result, most have no style of their own and tend to copy what they see and like on others, forgetting that for style and fashion to look good on us, there are certain points we need to consider.

#Important considerations

Fashion is not just about choosing clothing on the line that looks appealing. It's the ability to co-ordinate colours, designs, fabrics, textures, styles and shapes, combining them in a way that makes bold statement and empowers.

Fashion is about the whole person--the hair, body shape, posture and movement, body image, skin tone, height, weight and age.

Fashion is an individual's outward expression of identity---self-worth, integrity and self-respect. Our appearance conveys a message that invites others to deal with us as deserving respect, decent and morally upright, one who has self-value, not because of the cost of the apparel but wholesomeness.

What we wear should be an extension of our inner being---soundness of mind, like a billboard, a full package---what you see is what you get. We are a product, wrapped with what we wear---the external.

Those we meet have a first hand insight of who we are by taking in our appearance and hopefully, we confirm by our words and actions.

At least, that's what my mother used to say. She impressed upon us the necessity of looking presentable.

#Grow into the habit

Looking good is not about spending a huge budget on a label. It's the ability to choose what suits us and carefully put them together, co-ordinating the whole outfit in a way that gives an individual style that is classy and stylish.

Choosing colours wisely and shopping for items that enhance an existing wardrobe saves money.

Learn what colours suit you the most and add new items that complement your colour scheme with consideration for seasonal fashion.

Colours that look good on little children, especially girls, do not necessarily work for grownup women.

Dressing well is easy where parents had encouraged children early to take pride in their personal appearance. The world is a competitive arena, and appearance boosts confidence especially in the workplace.

Growing up as children, we were often reminded of dressing right, wearing the right shoes, even to school, to support good foot health. We grew up with quality brands to protect the feet.

#Confidence building

Having parents that reminded us of the need to look our best helped in forming habits effortlessly. The ability to dress right and make positive statement leads to self-confidence and self-acceptance.

Finally, shoes are not just fashion items, they keep the delicate bones of the feet strong from childhood to adulthood.

Therefore, invest in quality and style and give yourself an identity that speaks class and style without the need to overspend or dress to impress the wrong crowd.

Enjoy your shopping whatever you do, as the weather looks set for a warm spring and summer.
