Maintaining good health should be our number one priority.

Once we have good health, life becomes enjoyable because we have peace of mind.

It's not difficult to take care of ourselves but it requires respecting our body and not deliberately harming it by what we eat or our reluctance to form good habits.

Our motivation should be looking back and seeing how the years have been kind.

Time spent preparing food and drink from raw vegetables and fruits would enhance our health.

#Home cooking and baking

We have a variety of raw ingredients in the markets to explore. A large family can save money buying raw essentials and making time for preparation.

We must not forget that in the past families ate home cooked meals and were healthy. It's only in the last few decades that home delivery has become popular.

#Apple loaf Cake and Scones

Ingredients:

Oats, apple, dried sultanas, self-raising flour, eggs [ or eggless]

Butter, sugar, cinnamon and fresh lemon.

Apple and fresh water, cinnamon.

Apple Loaf Cake

Skin the apples.

Grate the apples and use three to four apples depending on the size of cake, squeeze lemon on the apples.

Measure out a teacup full of sultanas.

One teaspoonful of cinnamon.

250g of butter

Sugar to your taste [I normally use about four table spoons].

Add the sultanas to the grated apple and add a mug full of dry oats and mix together.

Beat the eggs, butter and sugar until soft and frothy if no cake mixer.

Add all ingredients and mix well together.

Grease the pan and add the mixture.

Put in the oven after heating, if electric oven, set at temp 200, and leave for 40 minutes[temp differs in some ovens].

Apple Scones

For Scones mix with normal texture, a little lumpy, add grated apples, sugar, butter, sultanas and oats, no flour. Leave in the fridge for 15 mins before baking in hot oven for 20minutes.

Apple Wine

Grated apple [use apple bits for cake], add water half the quantity of apples and keep in the fridge till next day. Use a strainer to separate apple bits. Sprinkle some cinnamon, and your wine is ready.
