We all desire healing when sick. But few of us are ready to persevere in prayer until we receive. Reason many lose out on receiving, not that God does not heal or answer but we lack patience.
God hears every prayer, some He answers immediately, others He wants us to patiently continue to seek and receive when the time is right as a way of learning trust and obedience. He might also say 'No' because it is not appropriate for us. Whatever reason He knows best.
#What can we do that helps?
Read people's testimonies and see how God came through for them. Say to yourself, if He did answer others, surely He would answer yours. Make sure you have been reconciled by acknowledging the death and resurrection of Jesus on the Cross by believing that He gave His life as a sacrifice for the world which you are part of. If you have never asked Him, confess your sins and ask for forgiveness.
When I had depression, over forty years ago, my grandfather's testimony was what I held on to because of the reality of him being someone I knew, not just a historical figure. The Bible was never far from me as it was my source of comfort as I studied daily.
It was at that time that I read The Cross and the Switchblade, by late pastor David Wilkerson. A story of faith in the face of danger and was greatly encouraged.
#Truth that boosts confidence
In Luke 8:43-48, the woman with the issue of blood is an example of one whose case though hopeless, having tried many physicians, and received no help did what most would have considered a risk, touched Jesus. By the time she made the decision to approach Jesus she must have felt desperate feeling she had nothing to loose. She would have heard people's account of healings and known Jesus was the answer to her problem. She may even have debated what could happen if found out as she was considered unclean by her community due to the ailment. But nothing was going to prevent her. She needed a turn around.
The beauty of testimonies, be it in the Bible or from those we know personally is that they prove God's faithfulness. But patience is needed in the waiting, for the just live by faith.
When we list the many names of God, we should not just read through but reflect on the meaning as they reveal the nature of God and His power.
Knowing that God describes Himself as the Sovereign God , who heals, delivers, protects, saves, provides and is All we need, if we fail to believe is indirectly saying God is unfaithful. The same God who has been since the beginning is in Christ working out His purposes today. It's important to believe in His Person to hear and meet our needs without allowing fear or the enemy to rob us of what is readily ours in Christ. He never said He would no longer help when we have needs. It is good to take everything to Him in prayer and trust Him to deliver. But even if we don't receive exactly what we expected, like Daniel and his friends we must still trust, choosing not to give in or bow to pressure to take a short cut.
I have experienced many healings, but most often it has come after continuous seeking, praying and fasting.
#Holy Spirit revelation
A few months ago, while I slept, there was a sudden jolt at my wrist. I opened my spiritual eyes as enabled by the Holy Spirit to see my wrist being swung back and immediately stopped the action. [The Holy Spirit had opened my spiritual eyes to discern an assault on my hand].
Damage had been done which I took to God in prayer. I patiently waited on the LORD and He did not only heal but with time revealed the person responsible.
Therefore, we must never allow people's opinion to prevent us from trusting in God. We have to be wise because as children of God we are living in a world where there is darkness and the battle is against the evil forces of wickedness in heavenly places. Our help is in God, the reason those who practice wickedness seek to prevent the worship of the true God, because light exposes who they are and curtails their evil activities.
However, it does not matter how dark things get, Jesus promised in John 17:15, that the Father will keep us safe from the evil one.
